UNICEF on Thursday took a campaign to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Fufore, Adamawa, to sensitise inmates of the need for regular hand washing to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Mr Joel Isaiah, UNICEF Education Consultant called on the inmates to wash their hands regularly at home and in school to promote hygiene and to also protect them from being infected with any virus especially the COVID-19.
“The COVID-19 pandemic provides a stark reminder that hand-washing is one of the simplest ways to prevent the spread of any virus and ensure better health outcomes.
“This year’s Global Hand-washing Day has “Hand Hygiene for All’’, he said.
In his remarks, Malam Abubakar Dikko, Education Secretary at the Fufore Local Government Council commended UNICEF for its contributions to the development of education in the council, especially for those in the IDPs camp.
He advised the pupils to always observe COVID-19 protocols to protect themselves from contracting the COVID-19 virus…
UNICEF distributed containers, liquid soaps, buckets and Jerry cans to the IDP camp during the campaign.
Oct. 15 of every year is the day set to raise global awareness on the importance of hand-washing.
