Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi CFR

His Royal Highness, Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi is a distinguished monarch and first class Emir of Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa State, in North West Nigeria.

As the traditional ruler of a semi-arid kingdom facing the grim threat of desertification, Emir Sanusi has assumed a remarkable responsibility for envisioning and creating a sustainable green environment with massive sanctuaries for biodiversity.

He is an exemplary thought leader for green growth and protection of the natural ecosystem, presiding over the phenomenal legacy of a 125-hectare royal forest which consists of 18-hole golf course, a games reserve, an expansive farmland, water dams for irrigation, and large man-made river that serves as sanctuary for unique species of migratory birds from Europe.

The Emir’s career trajectory also reflects a diverse range of experiences. Initially venturing into entrepreneurship and later transitioning into the field of engineering, a passion he had nurtured for an extended period. Hence, his multifaceted journey encompasses not only academic and professional achievements but also his pivotal role in afforestation, biodiversity and green economy.

A vastly travelled royal father, his quest for knowledge led him to Malaysia where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. As a symbol of Nigeria’s exalted royal institution, he continues to contribute to the renaissance of cultural heritage and infrastructural transformation in Jigawa State, and Northern Nigeria.

Emir Hamim has been awarded one of Nigeria’s highest national honours as Commander of the Order of Federal Republic (CFR) as he makes indelible mark on the rich tapestry of the country’s history while advocating for climate mitigation and adaption.
