SA reveal impact of flood in food sector

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor of Katsina state, Dr. Abba Abdullahi has counted the losses of his state in food production, saying over 300 hectares of land approximately figured at about N89 billion was lost to the last year flood even being the first state to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

He said this in an interview where he granted food to jounalist at the recently concluded 2022 Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) ceremony of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) held at Abuja Tuesday.

Dr. Abdullahi spoke about the state is still counting on what the state must have actually lost to the flood, saying the actual figure of the losses cannot be ascertained, but tentatively put at about N89 billion against 2021 flood.

He acknowledged the state as being the first to sign MOU with Nigerian Meteorological Agency ( NiMet) for timely weather forecast for climate smart agricultural farming across all the local governments, saying ‘’ we are still counting our losses as the accurate figure of the losses is yet to be ascertained’’
