Heavy downpour with thunder in southern Egypt ravaged many houses, properties including farmlands.

The state-run media reported that three people were killed while over 500 others were hospitalized from scorpion stings

Local authorities shut down schools activities on Sunday due the heavy flood that ravaged the whole province of Aswan over the weekend Aswan Governor Major General Ashraf Attia said.

Attia added that the storms forced scorpions from their hiding places into many houses across the province.

He said those who were hospitalized after suffering scorpion stings were all discharged after they were given anti-venom doses.

No deaths were reported from the scorpion stings.
