The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency has sealed four facilities in Nasarawa State for violating environmental standards and regulations.
The agency’s Assistant Director of Press, Nwamaka Ejiofor, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, in Abuja, saying the enforcement was carried out on Thursday.
The affected facilities are ABZAT Quarry, Hoafong Mining Trading Company Ltd, Emono Venture and Mivanyi Integrated Farms.
Ejiofor said the offences ranged from air pollution to failure to provide required environmental management documents.
She said the exercise, led by the Head of Operations at NESREA’s Karu operational office, Monday Da’am, was part of the agency’s mandate to protect the environment and public health.
NESREA urged facilities to adopt environmentally responsible practices and deploy the best available technology in their operations.
The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing environmental laws, standards and regulations across the country.
