The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has called on its customers to remain calm following the industrial shutdown of its operations in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by AEDC General Manager, Bode Fadipe, in Abuja, assuring customers that all hands are on deck to resolve the situation.
Fadipe said, “Following the industrial action embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees, power supply to some of our areas of operation, especially those on the 11kV network, may be affected.

“We would like to assure all our customers that all hands are on deck to resolve the issues that prompted this action.
“We would also like to apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and disruption.”
NatureNews reports that the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) had shutdown AEDC’s operation due to outstanding payment of about N41billion escrowed in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Union’s FCT chairman, Comrade Godfrey Aba, at the shutdown of AEDC Headquarters in Abuja, told The Nation, “the industrial action will be withdrawn only when our demands are met.”
The action, according to him, has culminated in an outage in all AEDC franchise areas that include but are not limited to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, Niger, and Nassarawa.
