Tourism Minister Commends Ekiti Govt Over Ikogosi Spring

By Yemi Olakitan

The Federal Government has commended Ekiti State Government for its significant achievements in the area of tourism, particularly the Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort and Conference Center.

During the launch of the Ecogenesis Incubator Programme in the state, Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism, praised the state for its commitment to tourism development, on Sunday.

The minister expressed her admiration for the resort, stating, “I was so impressed when I drove into Ikogosi. The greenery and everything about the place is charming and enticing.”

She urged Nigerians to take advantage of the resort’s hiking trails and explore the country’s natural beauty.

Ade-John emphasized the importance of sharing community stories and the value of unique locations for tourists.

She said, “Real tourists don’t care much about hotels and airports. They want to get to where the action is. It is hiking trails such as this that enable them to connect with the communities in a way that they won’t have anywhere else.”

The Federal Government’s Ecogenesis Incubator programme, designed to empower residents, tour operators, and guides with essential skills for thriving in the tourism industry, aligns with this sentiment.

Lanre Balogun, the General Manager of Glocient Hospitality, which operates the resort, expressed gratitude for the support of the federal and state governments.

Since its acquisition by Glocient Hospitality, Ikogosi has become a prime example of how tourism can drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and attract foreign investments, while transforming local communities.

Balogun said, “Under the leadership of our chairman, Niyi Olajide, and with the support of the federal and state governments, we will continue to invest in the hospitality sector, creating jobs and adding value to the communities where we operate.”
