The Director of Women Mobilisation, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr Betta Edu, has said the landmark projects commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Akwa Ibom State will strengthen grassroots support and boost the electoral fortunes of President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno and other APC candidates in the state.

Edu spoke during a town hall and empowerment meeting held by members of the APC PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate with the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, and Akwa Ibom women. The delegation also visited hospitals to support patients.

The delegation thanked grassroots women for their continued support for the APC on behalf of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.

Edu commended Governor Eno for his commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth and inclusive governance, saying the projects would create far-reaching economic opportunities for women, farmers, traders and small-scale business owners.

President Tinubu commissioned multiple projects executed by the Governor Eno-led administration in Akwa Ibom State on Friday, November 6, 2026.

According to Edu, the Ibom Aviation Village, ARISE Palm Resort, road infrastructure and other investments would stimulate economic activities, improve transportation, expand tourism, strengthen healthcare delivery and create sustainable livelihoods, with women projected to account for over 50 per cent of the beneficiaries.

She described the Ibom Aviation Village and ARISE Palm Resort as strategic economic assets capable of creating new business opportunities across aviation, hospitality, tourism, catering, transportation and retail trade, particularly for women entrepreneurs and small-scale business owners.

Edu noted that the economic benefits of the projects would extend beyond their immediate locations, opening new value chains for women-owned businesses, improving household incomes, creating job opportunities and promoting inclusive development across Akwa Ibom State.

Roads Will Open Markets for Women Farmers

The APC PCC Women Mobilisation Co-Director also highlighted the importance of the Airport-Okopedi Road and Ring Road 3, saying the infrastructure would significantly improve rural connectivity and farmers’ access to markets.

She explained that rural women farmers often face difficulties transporting agricultural produce to urban centres due to poor road access, high transportation costs and delays, resulting in losses and reduced earnings.

Edu said the improved road network would ease the movement of farm produce to markets in Uyo and other urban centres, helping women farmers reduce transportation costs, preserve the quality of their produce and earn better returns.

She added that the roads would enhance access to healthcare facilities, schools, markets and other essential services, providing significant relief to women and families in rural communities.

Edu also commended Governor Eno for the International Airport Hospital, describing it as a major healthcare investment that would improve access to medical services, particularly for women, children and vulnerable groups.

She further praised President Tinubu for his support for state governments and his collaborative approach to national development, noting that the partnership between the Federal Government and Akwa Ibom State had facilitated the delivery of critical infrastructure.

According to her, the projects align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, which prioritises infrastructure, economic growth, job creation and improved living standards.

Edu urged relevant stakeholders to ensure that women-owned businesses, farmers, entrepreneurs and skilled workers were deliberately integrated into the economic opportunities created by the projects.

Edu expressed confidence that the visible impact of the projects on livelihoods, business opportunities and rural development would further strengthen the APC’s grassroots appeal and translate into electoral victories for President Tinubu, Governor Eno and other party candidates in Akwa Ibom State.

She said the state’s pledge to deliver two million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election was achievable, given the growing impact of development projects and sustained grassroots mobilisation across the state.
