In a major development, RPS, a leading environmental consultancy, has secured a significant contract to provide crucial support for the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project.
The esteemed clients for this undertaking are none other than the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.
The primary focus of this project is to conduct a comprehensive measurement of offshore meteorological and oceanographic conditions along the proposed pipeline route, with the assessment set to span a duration of one year.
Spearheading this critical endeavour is RPS’s esteemed global MetOcean team, which will harness the state-of-the-art RPS MetOcean workshop facility located in Newbury, near Reading, UK.
What sets this pipeline initiative apart is the unwavering support it has garnered from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), along with the active cooperation of 13 countries in the West African region.
The overarching objectives of this ambitious project are to drive regional prosperity by unlocking the potential of natural gas resources, bolster energy security, promote cleaner fuels to facilitate the ongoing energy transition, and offer a viable alternative export route to Europe.
Speaking about the collaboration, Anthony Gaffney, the RPS MetOcean Director for UK/EAME, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to work closely with the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.
Gaffney highlighted RPS’s stellar reputation for delivering precise and reliable data, which will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping pivotal decisions during the development of this prestigious project.
