Protest: Markets, filling stations, other business activities shut down in Ebonyi

Business activities on Wednesday crippled in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital as angry youths took to the streets and destroyed public property.

Kpirikpiri market, filling stations, mega super stores among others were shut down.

Some units of Kpirikpiri Police Division were set ablaze by hoodlums.

The units razed include the Charge room and DTO record of the division.

An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said that the protesters were masked and could not say what they were protesting for.

According to the person, government property have been damaged , including Kpirikpiri Police Division among others.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Loveth Odah said that a vehicle parked at the station was also set ablaze and added that the owner was yet to be identified.

Odah also disclosed that no death was recorded.
