The management of Port Harcourt Pleasure Park has hinted that the park will soon introduce peacocks and more antelopes for better recreational services.

The I.T and Customer service representative, Mr. Frank Igbulom, while speaking to NatureNews correspondent on Saturday, said that the aim of the antelopes and peacocks is to add more spice and beauty to the greenery environment so that people can appreciate nature.

He added that the animals will not have any specific place to be kept, saying that they will freely walk around the park.

He informed that some antelopes have already been kept in the park but sometimes, they go into secluded areas because of crowd effect.

Igbulom who took NatureNews correspondent on a road tour, explained the various uses of the recreational facilities there.

He noted that the park is very secured with the presence of police operatives as cases of theft and burglary has never been experienced since the inception of the park.

He highlighted major facilities of the park which include the Carousel, the climbing or obstacle Tower, lake, gyroscope, board games and children’s play ground.

He informed that the park welcomes events like wedding ceremonies, birthday parties and valentine parties.

The park boasts a wide range of facilities for all ages including a 5-star Cinema and an International restaurant launched to complement the facilities at the park.

The park is serving as both a tourist destination and a revenue generator for the state.

Port Harcourt Pleasure park is a public recreation park in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. It is strategically located along the major Aba Road.

Julius Berger of Nigeria was awarded the contract to construct the park and started work in May 2016. The whole project was completed within 12 months of the commencement date.

On Friday, 26 May 2017, the Government of Rivers State commissioned and opened the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park for public use in a grand ceremony. Former governor, Peter Odili inaugurated the project, which was initiated, designed and constructed by the Nyesom Wike administration.
