The Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, has undertaken a coordinated maritime enforcement operation, codenamed “Blue-Green,” across key operational areas in Lagos, in a move to strengthen maritime security.
A statement by the agency posted on its X social media platform on Monday, revealed that the operation deployed Deep Blue maritime assets and a new specialised intelligence capability within the C4i system to identify, assess and prioritise vessels of interest.
Several vessels, according to NIMASA, were boarded and inspected for statutory certification, cargo and voyage documentation, surcharge obligations and Cabotage compliance during the operation.
Speaking, NIMASA Director General, Dr Dayo Mobereola, said “Blue-Green” will now become a recurring intelligence-led enforcement model, with similar operations progressively extended to Port Harcourt, Calabar and Warri.
“The operation underscores NIMASA’s commitment to strengthening maritime security, compliance and revenue generation,” the statement read.
