By Ngozi Eyeh

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has been honored with the prestigious Nigeria GovTech Award by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).

This recognition comes as NESREA is hailed as the leading Federal Ministry, demonstrating outstanding proficiency in the implementation of Environmental Sustainable Technology.

In an official announcement, Dr. Dasuki Arabi, Director General of BPSR, conveyed the news through a letter with reference BPSR/ICT.20/1/139.

Alongside NESREA’s triumph, Dr. Arabi also disclosed the nomination of Prof. Aliyu Jauro, the Director General of NESREA, for the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award, celebrating his exceptional leadership in the field.

The Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award primarily acknowledges the advancement of GovTech initiatives and digital governance that align with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda in the public sector.

This recognition reflects NESREA’s unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Dr. Arabi elucidated that these awards, set to be presented in October of this year, resulted from a comprehensive nationwide nomination and online voting process.

This process was initiated through various media platforms, including radio, television, and newspaper publications, notably the September 4th, 2023 issue of Punch Newspaper.

NESREA’s achievement underscores its significant contribution to environmental
preservation and sustainable technology implementation in Nigeria.

As the nation grapples with environmental challenges, this recognition serves as a testament to NESREA’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all Nigerians through cutting-edge technological solutions.

The Nigeria GovTech Award has established itself as a coveted honor for government agencies striving for excellence in the digital age.

NESREA’s acknowledgment in this regard solidifies its position as a pioneer in harnessing technology for environmental sustainability.

The entire nation eagerly awaits the award ceremony in October, where NESREA and its Director General, Prof. Aliyu Jauro, are set to receive these prestigious accolades for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of GovTech initiatives and digital governance.
