The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), under the leadership of Director General Zubaida Umar, has taken proactive measures to prepare for potential disasters during the upcoming 2024 rainy season.

In a recent visit to NEMA’s warehouses in Abuja, Zubaida Umar assessed the availability of relief supplies and instructed the swift deployment of the agency’s new search and rescue gear and supplies.

This proactive step aims to ensure NEMA’s readiness to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergencies that may arise during the rainy season.

Umar emphasized the importance of promptly responding to disasters by taking proactive measures, including pre-positioning equipment and training personnel to manage life-saving resources effectively in the event of sudden disasters throughout Nigeria.

This directive underscores NEMA’s commitment to the safety and well-being of Nigerians, as the agency works diligently to enhance its capabilities in disaster preparedness and response.

Umar’s tour of the warehouses marks her first official visit since assuming the role of Director General of the disaster management and humanitarian agency, signaling a strong dedication to ensuring the agency’s readiness to tackle challenges and protect communities across the nation.
