Lawmaker assures speedy intervention for Osun flood victims

The lawmaker representing Osun Central at the National Assembly, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has assured speedy intervention for victims of recent flood disaster in Osogbo.

Basiru made this assurance in a statement on Thursday.

The Independent quoted the lawmaker as saying, “this is terrible, we sympathize with those who have lost property to this disaster. The Government is on top of the situation as agencies are already assessing the damage with a view to preventing a reoccurrence.

He further advised residents to clear drainages to pave way for the body of water.

In the statement, the Senate Spokesman who visited areas mostly affected in Osogbo township, noted that the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, had been briefed about the incident, as the government was “on top of the situation.”

Recall that three persons were reported dead as flood ravaged Osogbo town on Tuesday night.

The deceased were at Oke-Onitea and Okejetu areas and drowned while attempting to pass through the flood.
