Infrastructure and technology company Langovest Limited has launched a water filtration and purification station in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to improve access to affordable and clean drinking water.
The AquaPoint Evergreen Station, located on Bende Street, provides purified water to residents and businesses in the area at ₦30 per litre.
Speaking at the launch, Langovest’s Business Development Lead and Chief Legal Officer, David Amafina, said the facility was the company’s first AquaPoint deployment in Rivers State and the South-South region, following its pilot installation at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
He said the station would serve communities around Bende Street, Aggrey Road and Creek Road.
According to him, the AquaPoint system uses reverse osmosis, ozone and ultraviolet sterilisation, as well as carbon filtration, to produce purified drinking water. Its real-time monitoring system also enables continuous checks of operational performance and water quality.
The Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen Station, Paul Njoku, said the investment reflected the company’s focus on automation and community development, stressing that access to clean water should be considered a basic necessity.
Langovest Founder and CEO, Kelvin Amafina, said the project also aimed to reduce dependence on sachet water and the plastic waste generated from its disposal.
He added that AquaPoint was Langovest’s first venture into the water sector, while the company was also developing projects in waste management and food security.
Amafina said the company was seeking partnerships with governments, development organisations and other stakeholders to expand its initiatives.
