As part of their efforts to ensure that alternative modes of transportation are both safe and affordable, the government of Lagos State has announced their intention to build the Lekki Estate Ferry Terminal in Lekki Phase 1 of Lagos.

This was announced in a statement released on Monday by Mr. Tunji Solaja, who serves as the Public Relations Manager for Lekki Estate Ferry Terminal Limited. He also mentioned that work on the project is scheduled to begin in September and is anticipated to be finished within a year’s time.

He stated, “It is part of the government’s efforts to solve the transportation challenges in the state through the development of an efficient integrated multi-modal transportation system by encouraging private investment in the sector. It is a part of the effort to solve the transportation challenges in the state.” The project is being carried out in conjunction with Lekki Estate Ferry Terminal Limited and Platform Capital, both of which are making significant financial contributions to the endeavour. The infrastructure component of the project consists of establishments such as shopping malls, parking lots with space for more than 200 vehicles, floating restaurants and lounges, as well as improved health and safety measures and environmental protection. Additionally, the project intends to develop a ferry terminal along Admiralty Way waterfront in Lekki Phase 1 that is owned by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, acquire cutting-edge passenger ferries, and run water transportation services for residents of Lekki, Ajah, Igbo Efon, Ikota, Awoyaya, Lakowe, Sangotedo, and the surrounding areas.

“It is also intended to complement the efforts of the state government in addressing the critical infrastructural shortage and bringing the dividends of democracy to the people through collaboration under a Private Partnership with Lekki Ferry Estate.” “It is also intended to complement the efforts of the state government in addressing the critical infrastructural shortage and bringing the dividends of democracy to the people.

“The project is part of the efforts that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is making to make the state a more convenient place to live for residents and to make the city of Lagos one of the most beautiful cities in Africa. Since his election in 2019, the governor has wasted no time in getting to work to improve the state’s socioeconomic development, as well as the security of lives and property, and to carefully fulfil the six pillars of the THEMES development agenda.
