Gov Zulum wants Southern Nigeria to produce President in 2023

By NatureNews

As politicians from across the country are beginning to strategise ahead of the next general elections, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has canvassed for the South to produce Nigeria’s President in 2023.

He said this on Thursday in Abuja when he delivered the guest lecture on Security, Economic Growth and Leadership at the launch of Strategic Turnaround, a book written by Dr. Dakuku Peterside, former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.

Governor Zulum who said the leadership of his political party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, should be just by allowing the South to produce the next President of Nigeria, argued that “what’s fair is fair”.

The Governor whose presentation elicited multiple rounds of applause and standing ovation from from an excited audience, also declared his stand on 2023 Presidential election.

He said, he is not desperate to be the President or Vice President in 2023 insisting that being a State Governor is a great privilege and an opportunity to serve his people.

Governor Zulum emphasised that leadership is a divine assignment that must be discharged with the fear of God and complete dedication to improving the welfare of the poor masses.

He said a good leader must be courageous to lead from the front line and show resilience in the face of life threatening challenges so as to motivate and inspire the followers.

Professor Zulum bemoaned the attitude of leaders at all levels who are not time conscious and are also lackadaisical in their handling of official matters that have significant impact on their lives of the people.

He noted that corruption is a major reason why leaders don’t perform up to expectation while in office, adding that successful leaders must shun corruption and spend their budgetary allocation with prudence.

He said there was nothing wrong in a Governor taking his legal gratuity at the end of his tenure after diligently serving the people wholeheartedly without stealing their money.

He commended Dr Peterside for his exceptional performance in public office, adding that the former DG of NIMASA is a role model for Nigerian youth.
