The Governing Council of Federal University Dutse has approved the promotion of Dr. Salami Dele Kaseem, a respected environmental scholar and columnist with NatureNews Africa, to the rank of Associate Professor (Reader), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to academia, research, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Salami, who joined NatureNews Africa as an Opinion Columnist on May 12, 2025, has continued to distinguish himself as one of the newspaper’s most dedicated and intellectually engaging contributors.
A forest ecologist and conservation expert, the newly promoted Associate Professor serves in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management at the university, where he has built an impressive reputation for excellence in teaching, mentorship, and scientific research.
Over the years, Dr. Salami has authored more than one hundred scholarly articles published in reputable local and international journals, while also contributing immensely to environmental policy discussions and ecological restoration efforts across Nigeria.
His research interests span forest ecology, conservation biology, silviculture, forest soils, wildlife management, and ethno-forestry, with special attention on restoring degraded landscapes and improving indigenous tree species in Nigeria’s arid zones.
Since becoming a columnist with NatureNews Africa, Dr. Salami has consistently provided readers with insightful, evidence-based analyses on biodiversity conservation, reforestation, climate resilience, and sustainable forest management.
