Some journalists in the Federal Capital Territory have received training on effective tools to address environmental crises as part of the Ecological Project Office’s (EPO) ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development.
In his remarks as he opened the workshop on Thursday in Abuja, the Acting Permanent Secretary of EPO, Dr. Famous Eseduwo, emphasised that the primary goal of the training was to improve the efficiency with which services are provided.
Eseduwo, who was not present but was represented by the Deputy Director of the EPO, Mrs. Eno Olotu, stated that the environmental problems that exist all over the country are getting much worse.
He stated that the training would provide the journalists with the opportunity to increase their knowledge, which would allow for the sharing of thoughts and experiences as well as an improvement in their ability to 1carry out their responsibilities.
Mrs Frances Ben-Agande, who is passionate about media communication and public relations, gave a presentation on the topic of “Media Coverage: The Impact on Organization’s Image and Operations.”
According to Ben-Agande, the objective of the EPO was to act as a strategic instrument with the goal of reducing the difficulties caused by ecological issues by ensuring that they were effectively managed.
She stated that having positive relationships with members of the media ensures a level of coverage that can be to the organization’s great advantage. “Therefore,” she said.
Ben-Agande stated that the media plays a significant role in the country’s efforts to address climate change and other environmental challenges in order to achieve sustainable development.
Her perspective is that the issue of the environment is the most important and crucial one that man is facing in the modern era.
The very existence of man is in jeopardy. Everyone needs to do their part to ensure that the environment is kept clean, safe, and protected. Concerns have been raised regarding the efficacy of our ability to disseminate information to the general public regarding potential responses to the crisis.

According to Dr Charles Obochi, who works in the Department of Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Abia, the training will improve the participants’ capabilities and abilities.
During his presentation on methodologies and techniques for conducting effective media interviews, Obochi mentioned that the primary goal of the training was to enhance the participants’ overall levels of productivity within their respective fields.
