Delta initiates reforms on greenhouse farming, agro-industrial park

The Delta state government, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is on the verge of completing its greenhouse farming project and Agro-Industrial Park.

Governor Oborevwori has pledged a two-billion-naira intervention fund to expedite the project’s completion, aiming to enhance the agriculture value chain.

Expressing his commitment to the 2024 budget, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the allocation of seven billion naira to the agriculture sector, demonstrating a strategic focus on food security and job creation.

The governor’s deliberate efforts are geared towards implementing sustainable agricultural reforms that align with the state’s developmental goals.

During an inspection of the Mbiri Greenhouse farm under the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme, Governor Oborevwori witnessed the cultivation of tomatoes in 11 units.

The greenhouse farms, strategically located in three senatorial districts, are part of the state government’s initiative to boost agricultural productivity.

Mr. Ebimoboere Eniyekpemi, overseeing the construction of the greenhouse farms, plays a crucial role in bringing the project to fruition. The governor’s visit extended to the Ogwashi Uku Agro-Industrial Park project, where he inspected a rice mill.

With a projected population of over six million people, Delta State possesses vast arable land, and Governor Oborevwori is optimistic that alongside infrastructural development, these agricultural initiatives will contribute to making food readily available for the residents.

The governor’s focus on sustainable agriculture reflects a forward-looking approach, aiming not only for immediate self-sufficiency but also for the long-term growth and resilience of the state’s agricultural sector.”
