Climate action: NCF, TotalEnergies launch ‘Green Revolution’ in Lagos schools

By Abdullahi Lukman

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) and TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc have jointly launched a comprehensive ‘Green Revolution’ initiative targeting schools and communities in Lagos.

The program, launched at Kuramo Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, aims to educate and empower young people to become active participants in climate action.

The initiative’s core focus is to foster a culture of environmental responsibility through practical engagement.

NCF and TotalEnergies are deploying recycling bins to ten select schools and organizing interactive clean-up challenges, demonstrating the tangible impact of proper waste management and recycling.

These activities are designed to instill a lasting understanding of the circular economy and promote sustainable living.

“At the core of what we do at the NCF is sustainability, education, and conservation geared towards healthy practices to preserve the environment for present and future generations,” stated Mrs. Adedamola Ogutuga, Head of Department, Environment Education at NCF.

“Partnering with TotalEnergies for the ‘Green Revolution’ aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering a greener economy and responsible consumption,” she said.

The NCF official said through this initiative, we are empowering young minds with the knowledge and tools needed to protect the environment, reinforcing our shared vision for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Nigeria.

The collaborative effort also includes employee volunteering, where TotalEnergies staff will actively participate in awareness campaigns and educational workshops, further amplifying the message of environmental stewardship.

Dr. Samba Seye, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

“As a responsible corporate entity, TotalEnergies encourages our communities to maintain environmentally sustainable practices and contribute to a cleaner world,” he said during the launch.

“By taking part in these activities, we are fostering a spirit of environmental consciousness and responsibility.”

The ‘Green Revolution’ aims to create a ripple effect, inspiring students, teachers, and the broader community to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to a healthier, more environmentally conscious Nigeria.

The NCF and TotalEnergies expressed the hope that the initiative will serve as a model for future collaborations, driving positive change and securing a sustainable future for generations to come.
