The Minister of Solid Minerals Development and the Taraba state government have held talks on ways to develop the solid minerals opportunities of the state.
This followed a courtesy visit by the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, to discuss opportunities for mineral exploration and development in Taraba State, in Abuja on Monday.
Speaking, the minister commended the Governor’s commitment to responsible development of Taraba’s mineral resources.
Alake emphasised the federal government’s commitment to promoting a well-regulated and sustainable mining sector, noting that Taraba has significant potential to benefit from increased investment and responsible mineral exploration.
He further stressed the importance of collaboration between the federal and state governments, investors and host communities to ensure that the exploitation of mineral resources translates into sustainable economic benefits while protecting the environment.
Earlier, Kefas highlighted the enormous potential of Taraba’s mineral resources and the need to attract responsible investments that will create jobs, empower communities and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that mining activities are carried out responsibly, with adequate measures to protect the environment, safeguard host communities and comply with global best practices.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to the governor, Mr. Chini Isaac, noted that the meeting is part of Governor Kefas’ commitment to unlocking new opportunities in Taraba’s solid mineral sector.
