Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on estate developers to prioritize environmental sustainability, adhere to regulatory standards, and maintain professionalism in construction and estate management during the groundbreaking of Summit Estate Global in Apo Dutse, Abuja, on February 14, 2026.

Shettima expressed the imperative for modern urban development to go beyond aesthetics and infrastructure, integrating environmentally responsible practices such as proper land use planning, waste management, and green space preservation.

Represented at the event by his Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Compliance, Mr. Bashir Maidugu, the VP expressed optimism that planned estates like Summit Estate Global can reduce pressure on overpopulated districts, prevent unregulated sprawl, and contribute to cleaner, healthier urban environments.

He commended the promoters and technical partners for demonstrating foresight and commitment to structured, environmentally-conscious urban growth, noting that sustainable housing directly supports public health and long-term city resilience.

Shettima stressed that housing projects must comply not only with building codes but also with environmental regulations to safeguard natural resources, minimize pollution, and enhance the quality of life for residents.

The Vice President point out that sustainable real estate development aligns with national goals for environmental protection, climate resilience, and energy efficiency, contributing to long-term economic and ecological stability.

Dr. Rebecca Godwin-Isaac, CEO of Homadil Realty Ltd., disclosed that Summit Estate Global is designed with sustainability in mind, integrating energy-efficient construction, proper drainage, and thoughtful landscaping alongside its 100 detached duplexes, 50 semi-detached duplexes, blocks of flats, shopping malls, and other amenities.

She acknowledged the Federal Capital Development Authority under Minister Nyesom Wike and President Tinubu for promoting responsible urban planning and sustainable infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory.

Construction partners, including J.I. Construct Ltd., Valentino Resources, and Tadas Okwonko, affirmed their commitment to using environmentally-friendly materials, minimizing construction waste, and adhering to green building standards.
