The Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of _NatureNews_, Aliu Akoshile, has congratulated the Emir of Dutse, His Highness Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, on his appointment as Chancellor of Sokoto State University.
In a goodwill message on Monday, Akoshile described the appointment as a “fitting recognition of the Emir’s exemplary leadership, deep commitment to education, and enduring legacy of service to humanity.”
The Emir, who ascended the throne of Dutse Emirate over three years ago following the passing of his father, Late Emir Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, now succeeds him in two other key roles: as Chancellor of the Sokoto State government-owned university and as Chairman of the pan-African Advisory Board of _NatureNews_ newspaper.
Akoshile noted that the Emir’s assumption of the chancellorship of Sokoto State University comes at a critical time when Nigerian universities require distinguished personalities with vision, integrity, and a passion for knowledge to provide guidance and moral authority.
“Your Royal Highness, your appointment is a testament to the trust reposed in your leadership by the Sokoto State Government and the academic community. We are confident that your reign will bring added prestige, stability, and goodwill to Sokoto State University,” Akoshile stated.
He further commended the Emir for graciously accepting to continue his father’s legacy as Chairman of the pan-African Advisory Board of _NatureNews_, the foremost environmental and sustainable development newspaper in Africa.
“Since succeeding your revered father on our Advisory Board, Your Highness has brought wisdom, statesmanship, and a strong voice for environmental sustainability and climate action to our organisation”, he said, adding that the Emir’s commitment to the ideals of _NatureNews_ reinforces our mission to promote environmental journalism and sustainable development across Africa”.
The _NatureNews_ publisher prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, and good health for the Emir as he steers both the Dutse Emirate and his new responsibilities in the education sector.
“We at _NatureNews_ celebrate this milestone with Your Royal Highness and the entire Dutse Emirate. May your reign continue to be marked by peace, progress, and impactful service to Nigeria and Africa at large,” Akoshile added.
The Sokoto State Government recently announced the appointment of Emir Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi as Chancellor of Sokoto State University, in succession to his late father who previously held the position.
NatureNews notes that the role of Chancellor is symbolic, and is expected to strengthen town-and-gown relations between the university and traditional institutions.
