Kenya govt debunks reports of distribution of subsidised fertilizers

By Bisola Adeyemo

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in Kenya has debunked the information on selling or distributing any government-subsidised fertiliser.

NCPB announced in a statement to Kenya News Agency that the board’s attention has been drawn to fake news regarding distribution of subsidised fertiliser.

The board warned farmers to treat the information as fake and disregard it.

Part of the statement reads “NCPB wishes to set the record straight that the board will not be selling or distributing any government subsidised fertiliser other than through the e-voucher subsidy programme together with other players in the private sector,” read the statement.

“All farmers and members of the public are therefore warned not to fall for the scam and to avoid participating in it. The board currently deals in commercial fertiliser which it sells through its depots in a free and open manner,” read the statement.
