Kaduna State University (KASU) is set to become a hub for youth-driven agribusiness after winning a ₦1 billion TETFund grant for commercial agriculture.
The grant, awarded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), will fund agribusiness incubation hubs, modernize research facilities, and strengthen industry partnerships aimed at tackling food insecurity and creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, described the grant as a “game-changer” for Kaduna State, adding that it validates the university’s efforts to modernize agricultural education and embrace practical, results-driven solutions.
Maharazu Ibrahim Kubau, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, has led initiatives to replace outdated systems with innovative practices, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in commercial farming and entrepreneurship.
The university also acknowledged the support of Governor Uba Sani, whose backing of education and agricultural innovation has been pivotal.
KASU plans to leverage the grant to expand research-industry linkages, promote sustainable economic growth, and position itself as a national leader in agricultural transformation.
