By Nneka Nwogwugwu

Gorontula, known as tree hibiscus, Azanza, snot apple in English language, is a fruit found in the northern part of Nigeria that is sweet and chewy, hence why it is also called “African Chewing Gum” fruit or called Goron tula in Hausa.

The fruit is widely cultivated in Tula Kaltungo Local Government of Gombe State and in Michika of Adamawa State in Nigeria. It is botanically known as azanza garckeana.

Because of its numerous benefits, the ‘miracle fruit’ has attracted many tourists from different countries.

The Tula communities were predominantly agrarian until recently when Gorontula began to attract the attention of fun seeking men and women who are rushing to the affected communities to obtain the fruits in order to satisfy their sexual fantasies, Platforms Africa reported.

“Men who want to satisfy their women come from as far as Chad, Niger and Cameroon to buy gorontula because it makes sex sweet for both women and men. It also works for fertility, diabetes and high blood pressure.

“I have a history of high blood pressure, and each time I notice the sign, I just take the Gorontula and I will sleep and become normal,” Heman Ephraim, the Seriki Gorontula told Platforms Africa.

Until 10 to 12 years ago, gorontula was just a fruit the Tulas took to the farm to assuage hunger and derive energy while working on their farms.

Another resident of Tula, Malare, said, “This fruit has taken me todifferent parts of the country and beyond. I receive calls from as far Niger, Chad, Cameroon and even Europe by people demanding for it.”

The Secretary to Mai Tula, Malam Yakulma Yaro, said the Mai of Tula, Alhaji Abubakar Buba Atare, often takes the fruits with him when travelling out of the country to create awareness for it.

Yaro said: “He is not just our traditional ruler and father but also our ambassador plenipotentiary.

“As the chancellor of a university in the Republic of Benin and a widely travel royal father, he preaches the gospel of gorontula wherever he goes, and that has helped to increase awareness about gorontula.

“It is also the reason why many researchers are working and discovering more about its medicinal values.

“Gorontula is our own, and because of that, we take it along with us wherever we go.”

Apart from its medicinal benefits, the miracle fruit also serves as a good source of sex enhancers. It does the following :

Increase of libido
Goron tula is used to increase the libido as consumption of the fruit helps in developing strong desires for sexual intercourse and also serves as an aphrodisiac several rounds of having sex with your partner. People experiencing lowered libido, as a result of stress or other health conditions, can try goron tula.

Vagina lubrication
Women with dry vagina are advised to try goron tula as it stimulates the production of vagina wetness and is perfect for keeping the vagina area moist and wet. Goron Tula has been recommended for women who find it hard to reach orgasm. You need to chew about 5-10 pieces to feel the effect very well down there although depending on your body type, you may chew more or less before you get the result.

Researchers believe that goron tula can be used as a fertility enhancer and it minimises the dependence on synthetic drugs as fertility-enhancing agents. Research published in Journal of Biology, Agriculture and Healthcare suggests that the fruit should be encouraged.
