EU partners Nasarawa Govt on digital economy, green energy

The European Union (EU) has unveiled plans to collaborate with the Nasarawa State Government, aiming to contribute to the state’s economic diversification through initiatives in the digital economy and green energy. The partnership aims to spur growth and development within Nasarawa State.
During a recent visit to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi, outlined the framework for multi-faceted cooperation. The collaboration is expected to cover areas such as climate change, economic relations, democratic governance, peace, security, and various other mutual interests.
Isopi emphasized the EU’s commitment to supporting Nasarawa State across diverse sectors, including agriculture, green energy, and innovation. The EU is actively involved in renewable energy projects geared towards rural electrification, working with selected partners within the state.
Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed gratitude for the EU Ambassador’s visit, emphasizing the shared values of peace, security, and democratic principles between Nigeria, Nasarawa State, and the EU. He highlighted the state’s openness to investments in sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, clean energy, and solid mineral development, with a specific focus on lithium development.
Governor Sule outlined the state’s efforts to address unemployment by prioritizing education, skills, and vocational training to empower youth for self-reliance. He also underscored the agricultural potential within the state, particularly in sesame, cassava, and sugar cane production, with existing and forthcoming investments poised to benefit Nasarawa and its citizens.
Assuring the EU of the state government’s commitment to collaboration, Governor Sule pledged to work closely with the EU to realize Nasarawa’s economic development goals and foster growth in various sectors.
The partnership between the European Union and Nasarawa State holds the promise of sustainable development and economic prosperity, marking a significant step towards realizing a shared vision of progress and growth.
