China has announced plans to deepen green development cooperation with Nigeria, highlighting domestic achievements in environmental protection and global climate leadership.
Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, said China-Africa collaboration remains a key priority.
In clean energy, China has implemented hundreds of projects in Africa, with photovoltaic capacity exceeding 1.5 gigawatts,” he noted.
African countries have also drawn on China’s Three-North Shelterbelt experience to implement the Great Green Wall Initiative.
Ambassador Yu emphasized China’s commitment to sustainable, low-carbon development and said cooperation with Nigeria will help “make the Niger River clearer, the Gulf of Guinea bluer, and ensure the green bond of China-Nigeria friendship endures for generations.
Highlighting China’s domestic achievements, he cited the 15th Five-Year Plan and the new Ecological and Environmental Code, which call for accelerating the green transition, leading global climate governance, and implementing the Paris Agreement.
China also ranks first globally in installed photovoltaic and wind capacity and supplies over 80% of photovoltaic components worldwide.
