Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has called for collaboration between the ministry and the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), to deepen collaboration so as to unlock the mining potential of the North Central region.
Alake made the call during a meeting with a team from the NCDC, at the weekend.
Alake revealed progress made in the mining sector. He said: “We have made steady progress with over 300 artisanal miners now organised into cooperatives and brought into the formal system, while enforcement efforts have led to more than 300 arrests, with several cases already in court.”
The Minister highlighted that the value addition policy of the federal government is beginning to deliver real results “with new processing projects in the region and over $2 billion in economic contribution so far under the administration of HE President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He, therefore encouraged the Commission to stay focused on collaboration, transparency, and execution, and assured them of full support.
