The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its commitment to securing farmlands and farmers against all forms of insecurity nationwide throughout the 2025 farming season.
Speaking during the weekly update on military operations, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said troops—working with hybrid forces and other security agencies—have sustained intensified offensive operations across all theatres in the country.
Kangye noted that several terrorist camps were dismantled between May 8 and 15, with multiple kidnapped victims rescued and civilians rehabilitated.
Troops also arrested key extremist informants and logistics suppliers in Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory, recovering arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and other materials.
“Our dedicated troops have demonstrated remarkable courage and professionalism,” Kangye said.
“We are not negotiating national security. We will continue to safeguard lives, territory, and critical national assets.”
In addition to land operations, troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft valued at over N103 million.
Recovered materials included over 68,000 litres of stolen crude oil and over 31,000 litres of illegally refined diesel, as well as the destruction of 18 illegal refining sites.
Kangye emphasized the importance of collaboration with local communities and international partners in intelligence-sharing and operational effectiveness.
He urged the public to continue supporting the armed forces and commended the media for amplifying military efforts in restoring national peace and security.
