Nigerians woke up this morning to the shocking news of the death of the publisher of Leadership newspaper, Mr Nda-Isaiah.
The social media is charged with lamentations as the publisher’s death was sudden.
Early this morning,
President Muhammadu Buhari expressed shock and sadness at the death of Nda-Isaiah.
Buhari described Nda-Isaiah as “a friend and ally,” saying, “the country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria.
“He will be sorely missed. This is a massive fish gone out of the media ocean.”
A statement by the
Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina quoted Buhari as saying the deceased was a pharmacist, renowned columnist, and one time presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
After studying Pharmacy, he worked at the Kano Specialist Hospital before moving to General Hospital, Minna.
His journalism interest began when he became a columnist with The Daily Trust.
He was also a committee member in the Kano State Government panel to revive The Triumph, a Kano governmet owned newspaper.
In 2003, he headed Mohammadu Buhari’s presidential campaign publicity.
In 2011, he founded the Leadership Newspaper Group.
The family said the publisher died on Friday “after a very brief illness.”
The pharmacist turned newspaperman attended a meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) in Lagos early this week.
He was said to be at his duty post in Abuja on Thursday during the inaugural meeting of National Economy’s Board of Economists at the corporate head office of the Leadership newspaper.
