ACReSAL Project: Jigawa State Pioneers Community Revolving Fund Mission
Jigawa State has been selected as the first among eight states to pilot the implementation of the Community Revolving Fund (CRF) mission.
The announcement was made during a speech by the ACRESAL Project Coordinator at the CRF mission event held from April 2nd to 9th, 2024.
The CRF initiative, backed by the World Bank under the Acresal project, is a loan investment scheme designed to tackle the challenges faced by agricultural business enterprises.
It aims to enhance community welfare and promote sustainable agricultural practices to boost production.
Dr. Joy Iganya, the task team leader, along with other leaders, has been instrumental in establishing this innovative financial mechanism.
The Jigawa state Government, led by His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, has provided unwavering support to ensure the swift implementation of CRF across the Hadejia and Ringim watersheds.
Dabi and Gamsarka communities have been chosen to pilot the CRF, with 10 Community Interest Groups (CIGs) selected under due diligence.
This initiative marks a new era of community-led development, focusing on inclusive progress and ensuring that no community is left behind.
The Project Coordinator expressed gratitude to Mr. Ashtoush for his invaluable knowledge and to the FPMU CRF CORE GROUP and the state core group for their hard work.
Appreciation was also extended to state stakeholders, steering and technical committees, the state project management unit, and community leaders for their dedication and commitment to the CRF exercise.
The CRF mission in Jigawa State is not just the inauguration of a financial mechanism but a reaffirmation of the commitment to centering people in development efforts.
It is expected to have a profound and lasting impact on the communities involved.
