CAMIC applauds Delta Gov for regenerating degraded land

A renowned think-tank on environment and climate change, Climate Africa Media Initiative & Centre (CAMIC), has commended the Delta State Governor for regenerating 52 hectares of degraded lands.

The Centre, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Governor’s action underscores the state government’s commitment to environmental as it also demonstrates proactive measures in combating climate change.

CAMIC noted that Delta State’s concerted efforts in land regeneration not only contribute to environmental conservation but also serve as a beacon of inspiration for other states across Nigeria.

The Centre expressed delight at the impact of such initiatives on biodiversity preservation, soil fertility restoration, and climate resilience enhancement.

Through innovative strategies and collaborative partnerships, CAMIC said Delta State has exemplified leadership in sustainable land management practices.

It said by reclaiming degraded lands, the state government not only enhances ecosystem health but also fosters socio-economic development.

CAMIC urges other governors across Nigeria to emulate Delta State’s exemplary approach towards land regeneration.

The Centre said, as the effects of climate change continue to escalate, concerted action at the regional and national levels is imperative to mitigate environmental degradation and safeguard the planet for future generations.

CAMIC also encourages stakeholders, including government, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders, to prioritize sustainable land management practices as part of their developmental agendas.

It said by adopting holistic approaches to land regeneration, Nigeria can mitigate the adverse effects of climate change while fostering inclusive growth and environmental stewardship.

CAMIC said it remains committed to amplifying the voices of environmental champions and advocating for sustainable solutions to climate challenges across Africa.
