FG approves N17.7bn for erosion, flood, pollution control

The Federal Government has approved a sum of N17.754,717,234.41 for emergency procurement of first and second quarters 2020 soil erosion/flood and pollution control accelerated intervention projects in the country, Nature News gathered.
This decision was taken at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa and was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, to State House Correspondents at a press briefing after the weekly FEC meeting.
Adesina said the contracts include gully erosion and control along Ndam/Agbor road, Nnobi and Alor towns in Idemili/ South LGA, Phase two, Anambra State , awarded to Telesis Limited at a cost of N.495,878,764 with completion period of eight months.
Also awarded is the contract for the erosion and flood menace beside Yem Kem House along Oye-Ifaki road, Oye LGA at a cost of N792,311,211.11 to Strabic Construction Ltd with completion period nine months.
Adesina also disclosed that Somolu/ Bariga LGA/ Akoka/Ilaje community, Akoka-Lagos flood and erosion control project, Lagos State was awarded to Partibon Services Ltd at a cost of N1.786,146,630.98 – 10 months completion period Other contract is the gully erosion control at Egbo-Ideh community, Ugheli South LGA, Delta State awarded to Harris & Dome Nigeria Limited at N1,328,306,924.00.
Completion period is 24 months Gully erosion control and road improvement works in Darazo LGA, Bauchi State awarded to Powerhill Construction Ltd at N3,897,577,627.79 – 24 months completion period. Gully erosion control works at Ladanal community, Nasarawa LGA, Kano State awarded to U.Y.K. Nigeria Ltd at N1,337,681,584.69 with eight month completion period.
Also awarded to Gaffar Worldwide Resources Limited is the contract to tackle the devastating effect of gully erosion in Gboko township, Benue State at a cost of N1.503,970.714.83 at completion period of 12 months Adesina further said erosion and flood control works in Wase and Bashar towns, Wase LGA, Plateau State was awarded to Global Legend Integrated Concept Limited at N1,687,162,328.95 and is due to be completed in 14 months.
According to Adesina, contract for the gully erosion control and road improvement works along Plot 1398, off Kainji Crescent and Katampe Extension, FCT, Abuja was awarded to IMB Corporate Synergy Limited at N555,569,610.76 with six months completion period Soil erosion, River channelisation and slope protection within Maitama District (Phase II, FCT, Abuja was also awarded to Masarki Nigeria Limitdd at N1,887,495,486.63 and it’s due for completion within 12 months.
Also awarded for N823.677,900.00 is the supply and installation of 12 numbers on site flameless/smell-less incinerator (50kg/ he) for the national blood transfusion centres in some Federal Medical Centres and Teaching Hospitals.
The contract is Black Wheel Multi-Links Limited while completion of the contract is due six months Similarly contract was also awarded for the supply and installation of six numbers containerised incinerators (250kg/ her) for the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) one in each geo-political zone (STJ Integrated Resources Ltd.) N658,938,450.00 . Completion period is six months.
