Sri Lanka to launch energy plan amid power crisis
Sri Lankan government on Monday announced that it would launch a rapid renewable energy generation plan from June in order to overcome the ongoing energy crisis as the country.
Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera was quoted as saying the plan was necessary as the country faces frequent power outages due to the shortage of fuel.
Wijesekera said plans will be executed in two quick steps which include the conversion of rooftop photovoltaic systems to solar panels and the approval will be granted for proposed renewable energy proposals without further delay.
In addition, the minister said large-scale investments for selected renewable energy projects will be accommodated after technical and financial evaluation.
