Solid Minerals, Alternative to Oil – Alake
Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Alake has stated that the Solid Minerals sector could serve as an alternative to oil production if we’ll harnessed.
This is as Alake posited that Solid Minerals sector generates the highest taxable income, contributing 18 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), after the oil and gas sector which currently contributes 78 percent due to declining production output.
Dr. Alake made this assertion when he received the Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, in his Office, recently.
The Minister assured that with the Renewed Hope agenda of the present administration, Nigeria was.on it’s path to economic growth and prosperity.
Alake also pointed out that the vision and agenda of the present administration is strongly rooted on the avowed determination of President Bola Tinibun to uplift the country, and improve the living standards of the citizenry through implementation of initiatives, policies and programmes that are geared towards revamping the economy.
Earlier, the newly appointed Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr.Zachaeus Adedeji highlighted the importance of the solid minerals sector in the Nigerian economy.
Adedeji stated: ”This is our next oil and that is why we are here. We are getting it right here. If we got it right, it means the future of Nigeria is secured. We are confident having Dr Oladele Alake as the Minister of Solid Minerals, half of our job is secured.”
