The Sokoto state government has commenced the distribution of fertilizer to farmers across the 23 local governments of the state.
Some of the local governments visited by our reporter confirmed the distribution of the commodities to the real farmers as against the former practice of giving it to the politicians to distribute.
At Dange Shuni LGA, the commissioner for budgetary and economic plannius Malam Hassan Maccido urged the committee set-up for the distribution to ensure that only genuine farmers has access to the commodity

Maccido who warned against diversion of the fertilizer said anyone caught in the act will have himself to blame and then urged the committee member comprised of traditional rulers and LGA officials to be Good ambassadors of the local government worthy of emulation
However reactions to the distribution of fertilizer some of the farmers who spoke to our reporter frowned at the lateness in commencing the commodity distribution.
A farmer who would not want his name disclosed said “this is a month to harvest crops how will the commodity affect our efforts” he acquired
Another farmer called on government to away ensure that fertilizer were made available to farmers in time to quarrant the bomber harvests of food crop in the state.
