NOGs Donate’s Seedlings, Waste Bins to Schools to Promote environmental Sustainability

By Fatima Saka

A Non-governmental Organization, ECOWEB360’s an Environmental Initiatives located in Akure, Nigeria, has recently donated seedlings and waste bins to secondary schools in the region to promote sustainable initiatives to preserve the environment and its habitants.

The founder ECOWEB360’s Environmental Initiatives Yemi Adeyanju, said the aims of the initiative is to promote environmental sustainability by encouraging cleanliness and effective waste management, while also educating the younger generation on the importance of preserving the environment.

He further stressed on the international front that the United Nations is hosting a series of climate events, such as the Pre-COP meeting and the Latin America and Caribbean Climate Week. “These forums serve to strengthen the implementation of the Paris Agreement and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and solutions.

Highlighted “the importance of understanding the impact of food systems on the environment, conserving clean water for migratory birds, and the need for early warnings for extreme weather events caused by climate change.”

He urges world leaders to accelerate the transition to clean energy and emphasizes the responsibility of wealthy countries, which account for the majority of emissions, to support poorer nations and address existing inequalities.

“On the economic front, the cotton industry is feeling the impacts of climate change, experiencing decreased productivity. Currently, only 20% of cotton is being sustainably produced, but there is a growing demand for more sustainable cotton.

“The sector is determined to adapt to the changing climate and address these environmental challenges. Yet, the fight against climate change has its opponents. Activists are planning to disrupt the Energy Intelligence Forum, an annual meeting of oil industry leaders, to protest the industry’s business-as-usual approach. They aim to make it clear that the fossil fuel industry should not profit at the expense of the environment.

“These events and initiatives underscore the urgent need for collective action to address climate change and mitigate its impacts.

“Stakeholders, including governments, organizations, and individuals, must prioritize sustainability, cleanliness, waste management, and the transition to clean energy to ensure a sustainable future for all.”
