NMDPRA grants refining licence to indigenous oil firm in Rivers

The NMDPRA has presented a License to Construct (LTC), to an undegenous petroleum development company —Foster Petroleum Development Company Limited for the development of a 30,000 barrels per day refinery in Gokana, Rivers State.

A statement by the NMDPRA on Friday revealed that the license was presented by the Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing, Plants Installations and Transportation Infrastructure, Engr. Francis Ogaree, on behalf of the Authority.

Speaking at the presentation, Engr. Ogaree reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting investments that enhance Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity, improve energy security, and drive economic growth.

“Upon completion, the refinery is expected to produce Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), and fuel oil, contributing significantly to the availability of refined petroleum products in the country,” the statement read in part.

It added that the project aligns with ongoing efforts to expand local refining infrastructure and strengthen the nation’s petroleum value chain.
