The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMeT) has explained that the rainfall which occured on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November, was as a result of clouds build up from some northern parts of the country.
NiMET, through its Central Forecast Office (CFO), further explained that FCT is one of the major areas of the north which accumulated some of the clouds, adding that November rain and thunderstorms is as result of climate change .
The Meteorological Agency in a statement, on also pointed out that such events are rare and does not always occur in Nigeria.
The Agency also revealed that it is the formation of high energy that has settled in the Atmosphere that forms clouds.
NiMET in the statement, also clarified that the event marks end of rainy season in northern Nigeria for the year 2023 as predicted.
It also noted that the development does not alter the overall seasonal prediction but that the country is just experiencing temporal weather fluctuations influenced by the Atmosphere.
NiMET revealed that the use of fossils and deforestations in recent times have greatly increased and that the burning of fossil fuels has created a rise in Gas concentration, thereby affecting the atmosphere.
“The Rise in green house gas concentrations is responsible for the effect which is causing climate changes in the Earth sometimes it is beyond human control”, NIMET stated.
