Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Forestry Fund (TFF) has said that Tanzanians should continue to enable forest entrepreneurs to take part in forestry activities.
Kassim Majaliwa said this on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the kick-off of a three-day Forest Sector Investment Forum in Mafinga Town, Iringa Region, All African news reports.
Majaliwa urged Tanzanians to ensure more trees are planted to effectively reduce carbon emissions and restore natural ecosystems.
“While cutting trees for various purposes, it is critical to focus on planting more trees so that we can reap all the benefits from trees.
“Trees can lock up carbon for centuries, which is something humans and the planet desperately need, given the damage done to the atmosphere by carbon-emitting human activity,” he said.
While issuing several directives to improve the forestry sector, Majaliwa said creating an enabling environment for the establishment and development of forest product industries will efficiently and effectively process the plant.
Meanwhile, Mr Majaliwa has directed the Minister of State in charge of Investment in the Prime Minister’s Office to guarantee that products made in Tanzania’s diverse industries, including plywood, be branded with the Tanzanian trademark.
