Minister urges Private Sector to Drive CNG Adoption
In a recent address at the commissioning of the ABG CNG Plant and the graduation ceremony of 40 CNG Conversion Technicians in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized the pivotal role of the private sector in realizing the Federal Government’s vision for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Nigeria.
Idris commended the ABG Group for its commendable and timely efforts in advancing the cause of CNG.
He highlighted CNG as a cost-effective solution in the transportation sector and lauded President Bola Tinubu’s foresight in spearheading the adoption of CNG as a dominant alternative to premium motor spirits for both commercial and private vehicles.
Stressing that CNG is the future, Minister Idris urged Nigerian entrepreneurs to leverage government policies supporting CNG by investing in the necessary human and material resources to expand its infrastructure nationwide.
Acknowledging the commitment of President Tinubu’s administration, Minister Idris revealed that N100 billion has been allocated in the initial phase towards the CNG initiative.
He also credited CNG as a contributing factor in softening negotiations between the Nigerian Labour Congress and the federal government.
Chairman of the ABG Group, Alhaji Bawa Garba, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for embracing CNG as a clean energy solution.
Recognizing Nigeria’s potential to become a ‘Gas Nation,’ Alhaji Garba emphasized the need for government support and patronage to fully immerse CNG in the national energy landscape.
The ABG Group, known for its pioneering spirit, has actively contributed to the CNG initiative by training numerous CNG conversion engineers across Nigeria.
