The re-hatched mineral promotion clinic would go a long way towards delivering pertinent information on the availability of minerals in Nigeria, according to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (MMSD).

This was said at the Abuja launching of the “Mineral Promotion, Sensitization and Dissemination Mineral Clinic” by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade.

He  further underlined that the mineral clinic would make a significant contribution to the nation’s economic growth.

“I am quite thrilled to be a part of the NGSA’s mineral clinic, which is intended to give stakeholders a genuine opportunity to interact and become more knowledgeable about minerals in Nigeria.

“In my opinion, it aims to identify and address important problems that the Nigerian minerals and metals industry has, such a lack of geosciences data and expensive exploratory activities, among others,” she said.

The National Integrated Mineral Exploration Project (NIMEP), which has improved geoscience data that is luring many investors to Nigeria, has been successful, according to the Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the ministry’s Director Special Duty, Comfort Tabiwa.

Akinlade added, “I applaud the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) for its significant contributions to the growth of the mining sector in the nation.

Akinlade expressed confidence that at the conclusion of the event, Nigerians and investors would have a better grasp of the country’s minerals, which would enable them to make better economic decisions to the advantage of all parties involved.

“The sector has many obstacles, particularly in the area of funding, yet this Agency has made notable progress on a number of fronts despite these obstacles.”

In a welcoming speech earlier, Dr. Abdulrazaq Garba, Director General of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), stated that the agency’s data had inspired the establishment of mineral clinics across the six geopolitical zones, which had been a great success.

Around 400 interested investors visited the mineral clinics, and more than 100 samples of rocks and minerals were examined for free using Hand-Held XRF, according to Dr. Garba.

He said, “We are also preparing to extend such deeds to all the States of the Federation, which we believe would promote the desired purpose in increasing awareness, sensitising, and disseminating geoscientific data to the lowest level.”
