LAWMA urges pupils to be environmental ambassadors

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has emphasised to students enrolled in its academy that they should act as credible ambassadors for the environment.

At the end of the four-week summer school in 2022, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Authority, made the appeal.

This information was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos and was included in a statement that was signed by Mrs. Folasade Kadiri, Director of Public Affairs for LAWMA.

According to the statement, more than one hundred students from various schools in the state of Lagos were given instruction on efficient waste management and environmentally responsible behaviours.

“You can use the recyclables to make bins that you can place in your rooms when you get home. “I equally want you to encourage your parents to procure their waste bins as well, in order to ensure that waste is properly contained. “You can make use of the recyclables to make bins that you can place in your rooms when you get home.”

It was stated that while speaking to the students, Odumboni encouraged them to put the creative experiences they had gained during the period to good use in their homes, schools, and other places, as they had been trained in arts and crafts, among other things.

“Let them know that you are now ambassadors for the environment.

According to the statement, Odumboni was quoted as saying, “Practice all that you have learned and thank you all for participating.”

According to the statement, Mrs. Elizabeth Ademola, the Head of the academy, remarked that the programme received more entries than it did the previous year, with both physical and virtual participation.

It is a significant step forward for us that we have a large number of students ranging in age from 8 to 13 enrolled in the summer school programme that we are offering this year.

As children are more receptive to messages like these, particularly when it is fun and interactive, the goal is to ensure that we achieve a generation that will be environmentally conscious. “The idea is to ensure that we achieve a generation that will be environmentally conscious.
