Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of civil servants through agricultural support, as he flagged off the second phase of the Workers’ Agricultural Support Programme on Monday in Dutse.
Speaking at the event, Namadi emphasized the importance of agriculture to Jigawa’s economy, noting that while many citizens depend on it for their livelihood, civil servants often struggle with food security due to inflation, limited resources, and lack of access to agricultural inputs.
He explained that the support programme was introduced to address these challenges and boost the productivity and well-being of government workers.
“This programme is a clear demonstration of our unwavering commitment to improving the livelihood of our civil servants and sustaining our agricultural transformation in line with the government’s 12-point agenda,” Namadi said.
The governor recalled that over N3 billion was approved in 2024 for the first phase, which benefited 8,828 civil servants and public officials.
He said the success and transparency of that phase encouraged the continuation of the initiative to include those who were not previously reached.
Namadi expressed confidence that the second phase would surpass the previous one in impact and efficiency.
Earlier, the Head of Civil Service, Mr. Muhammad Dagaceri, said this year’s programme would target 5,750 additional beneficiaries, with over N1.24 billion allocated for agricultural inputs.
He praised the first phase for its transparent execution and effective use of resources, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to a greener and more prosperous Jigawa.
