The Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and Pakistan on Thursday signed a bilateral agreement to improve the agricultural sector in the state.
They also agreed on improving other sectors like defence, technology, health, commerce, and education in the state.
While welcoming the Pakistani High Commissioner to Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Bagudu said the Agricultural sector remains a principal force in sustaining the operation and growth of the whole economy in a state.
Agricultural markets and trade play a crucial role in providing livelihoods for farmers and people employed along the food supply chain.
Bagudu acknowledged that the visit of the high commissioner would facilitate such a trade agreement paving the way for businessmen from the state and Pakistan to visit one another.
He also requested the commissioner to look into the possibility of partnering with the state on cancer treatment, mining, technology, health, defence, environment, educational exchange visit, and agriculture.
In his part, the Pakistan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Tayyab Azam said his visitation to Kebbi state was to explore areas of cooperation on trade and commerce for the benefit of the two entities.
