By Faridat Salifu

The ₦150 billion Kano Rail Line project, recently approved by President Bola Tinubu, has the potential of enhancing transportation and economic activity across the northern states.

Alhaji Rabi’u Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), made this announcement in a press statement in Kano.

Bichi expressed appreciation for the presidential allocation within the 2025 Appropriation Bill, emphasizing that the railway construction will catalyze economic revitalization in the region.

He stated, “This project will not only improve transportation but also enhance the quality of life for residents, positioning Kano as a key hub for trade and industry.”

Highlighting the administration’s commitment to infrastructure, Bichi noted that the focus on developing transport links aligns with broader initiatives aimed at healthcare and economic recovery.

He also acknowledged the contributions of local leaders, including a former Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for their roles in fostering development in the area.
