Anambra demolishes illegal structures at Idemili North community

By Faridat Salifu

The Anambra State Physical Planning Board has clamped down on illegal constructions along waterways in Enekwasumpu, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The Board’s law enforcement team, led by Barrister Chike Maduekwe, has demolished several unauthorized buildings after the developer ignored multiple warnings.

Maduekwe stressed the urgency of the situation, highlighting that such structures pose severe risks, including flooding and environmental degradation.

He stated that these developments not only threaten local ecosystems but also endanger community safety.

Maduekwe confirmed that the state government will pursue legal measures to recover costs incurred during the demolition process, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining urban planning standards and protecting waterways from illegal encroachment.

The Board’s ongoing efforts aim to ensure that future developments adhere to legal and environmental regulations.
